About Us

Mike and Michele Henery moved to Port Townsend 9 years ago to open Henery’s Garden Center in January of 2000 with Mike’s parents, Mike and Jane Henery. The garden center had two previous owners, first as Eccle’s Nursery and then R&D Nursery. After five years, Mike and Michele were able to purchase the second half of the garden center from Mike and Jane. Mike’s brother Matthew similarly purchased Henery Hardware, across the street, from their parents a year later.

When Peninsula Nursery came up for sale in Sequim in 2003, Mike and Michele thought this was the perfect opportunity, because of its location, to open a second garden center. Knowing they could not do it alone, they recruited Michele’s parents, Tim and Rose Jaeger, to join them in the venture. Tim retired from a long career as Paper Mill manager at Tacoma’s Simpson Paper Company and traded his tie in for some overalls. Rose’s long-time passion for gardening made for the perfect fit. They moved from Puyallup to Sequim and opened the new garden center in January of 2004.
From the beginning, Henery’s Garden Center has focused on great customer service and an extensive selection of high quality plants. If we do not have it, we always try to find it. The combination of the two stores has made this even more possible. There are several weekly trips between the two stores, bringing customers the plants they need.

Thank you for all the loyalty and support you our friends and customers have shown over the years!
